Molybdenum Rhenium Alloy is a molybdenum alloy based on molybdenum with 2%~5% rhenium added. Adding molybdenum to rhenium can improve the plasticity of molybdenum and increase the strength of molybdenum, which is a solid solution strengthening alloy. When 35% rhenium is added to molybdenum, the rolling deformation at room temperature can reach 90%. Molybdenum-rhenium alloys are prepared by powder metallurgy.
Molybdenum Rhenium Alloy can be used as high-speed rotating X-ray tube targets, long-life grids for microwave communications, space reactor core heating tubes, high-temperature furnace heating elements, high-temperature thermocouples, etc. The room temperature tensile strength, ductility and resistivity of Molybdenum Rhenium Alloy increase with the increase of rhenium content. Mo-5%Re and Mo-41%Re are usually used as thermocouple wires and structural materials in aerospace. Mo-50%Re is used as high temperature structural material.
Molybdenum Rhenium Alloy has the high-temperature physical properties of rhenium, good mechanical properties of molybdenum, and the inherent excellent properties of molybdenum-rhenium alloy. The rolling deformation can reach 90%. Adding 47.5% or 41% rhenium to molybdenum forms a molybdenum-rhenium alloy (nominal composition is 50%Mo+50%Re), and its ductility, welding performance and formability are greatly improved. Molybdenum-rhenium alloys retain good ductility even after high temperatures. Molybdenum Rhenium Alloy is widely used in electronics industry, nuclear industry and aerospace industry.
